You’ve probably been told to just live with it

If you’re here, there’s a fair chance you’ve been putting up with something for a while. Pushing through the pain, the tiredness, the flare ups, the stress that never quite settles. Maybe you’ve had the tests and been told everything looks fine, or to manage it, or to come back if it gets worse.

And you’re left quietly wondering, is this just how it is now?

Here’s the thing though. Your body isn’t broken, and it isn’t working against you. It’s actually really wise, and the things that feel like they’re getting in the way are usually happening for a reason. Most of the time your body just needs a bit of guidance to do things differently. That’s what we’re here for.

We look at the whole picture, not just the symptom

This is the part a lot of people have never been given. Someone taking the time to look at how it all fits together. Your sleep, your stress, your hormones, your digestion, the tension you’ve been carrying for years.

Western medicine tends to look at these one at a time. We look at the whole picture, and we know how to gently bring your body back into balance. We’ve spent 20 years doing exactly this, right here in Moonee Ponds, so we can see how the pieces connect.

You’ll walk out of your first visit with a treatment already done, a plan built around you, and a team who’s properly in your corner.

Twenty years in, we’ve seen just about everything

When something’s been going on for a while, it’s easy to feel like you’re the tricky case, the one nothing quite works for. You’re not. After 20 years and thousands of people through our doors, there’s very little that walks in that we haven’t sat with before.

That kind of experience is hard to fake. It means we recognise patterns quickly, we know what tends to help, and we’re honest with you about how long things might take.

And if we ever think acupuncture isn’t the right fit for what’s going on, we’ll tell you, and point you in a better direction. That honesty is part of the deal.

“But does it actually work?” Good question.

We get asked this a lot, and we love that you ask it. So here’s the honest answer.

Acupuncture and Chinese medicine have been practised for thousands of years, and are among the most well researched traditional medicines there is. We practise it in a grounded, practical way. It’s not energy and vibes.

We use it to support your body in real ways, settling a nervous system that’s been running hot, easing tension and pain, and helping your body do what it’s built to do.

What we’ll never do is promise you a miracle, because no honest practitioner can. What we will do is give you our full attention, a clear plan, and everything in our power to help you feel better. And if we’re not the right fit, we’ll tell you that too.

The team who’ll look after you

Qi Medicine has been part of Moonee Ponds since 2006, and has grown into one of the inner north’s most trusted clinics. You’re looked after by a team of experienced, fully qualified, AHPRA registered practitioners, each with their own style and areas of focus. Choose whoever you feel most comfortable with, or tell us what’s going on and we’ll match you well.

Your questions, answered

What can acupuncture help with?

People come to us for women’s health and fertility, hormonal and perimenopause support, stress, anxiety and low mood, poor sleep and fatigue, gut and digestion, immunity and autoimmune conditions, skin concerns and cosmetic acupuncture, sinus and hay fever, headaches and migraines, and pain of all kinds. If you’re not sure whether we can help with your particular thing, give us a call and we’ll be honest with you.

Does acupuncture hurt?

The needles are very fine, nothing like the ones you’re picturing at the doctor. Most people find their treatment deeply relaxing, and a lot of them tell us it’s the calmest they’ve felt in ages. If you’re nervous, just say so, we do this gently and at your pace.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on you and what’s going on, and we’ll always be honest about it rather than sign you up to something open ended. Some things ease in a few sessions, others need a bit longer. You’ll leave your first visit with a clear sense of the plan and what to expect.

Can I claim on my private health insurance?

Yes. We’re registered with all Australian private health funds, and if your policy includes acupuncture, we claim your rebate on the spot with HICAPS, so you only pay the gap.

Do you have after hours or weekend appointments?

Yes. We’re open until 8pm Monday to Thursday and on Saturday mornings, so you can come in around work and family. Book online any time, or call us on (03) 8394 7665.

Where’s the clinic, and is there parking?

If you’ve been searching for acupuncture near me, acupuncture near you, or acupuncture in Melbourne’s inner north, you’re in the right place. We’re at Suite 4, Level 1, 151 Pascoe Vale Rd, Moonee Ponds, a couple of minutes from Queens Park and just off Puckle Street. There’s free two and three hour street parking nearby, we’re a short walk from Moonee Ponds station, and right on the 508 tram line.

The research

We practise in an evidence informed way, and we’ll always be honest with you about what the science does and doesn’t show. Acupuncture has been studied in large, high quality trials, particularly for pain and headache. No honest practitioner would promise you a cure, and every body is different. Here are a few of the studies, so you can read them for yourself.
